An Amateur Grows Roses for Pictures

by Molly
(Oklahoma)

When we first moved into my new house, I was ecstatic to see roses in our backyard. My mother and I had never really had much luck growing roses, so since they were already fully grown I thought it would be nice to have them and just have to maintain them.

After a few years of keeping them alive and somewhat beautiful, I'm not a green thumb, we had an extremely good looking batch. I have no clue what kind they were, but we had some pretty baby pink, yellow-pink, and hot pink roses bloom. I found one of my grandmother's old vases, and filled it with some of the roses as well as a few other flowers. They looked so nice as a centerpiece, I took a picture of them for my DeviantArt.

Unfortunately, I am an amateur at photography as well, so the picture wasn't as nice as it could have been. This has been my best experience with growing anything. Though I haven’t had much luck growing them in the past, I hope to get better so I can grow them and have pretty roses in my garden. I would love to carry on my grandmother’s passion for flowers as well as my mother’s passion.

Roses happen to be one of my favorite flowers and I am going to keep trying to get better so they will bloom gorgeously.
