Blue Ice Amsonia

by Marc
(Illinois)

Gorgeous!

Perennials, in my opinion, are the best types of flowers to plant. They come back for years, and you don't have to replant them! As far as perennials go, I have a definite favorite - the Blue Ice Amsonia!

This flower is one of the most gorgeous flowers that I have ever seen. It's a star-shaped flower, so it's very unique in shape. It is a smaller flower, with long stems. The Blue Ice Amsonia is a blue flower when in full bloom, and then in the fall it turns a golden yellow color, along with it's stem. I find it a great multipurpose plant. I have used it for edging and in borders.

Not only is this flower absolutely beautiful, but it's a very strong plant. It can grow in almost any condition, be it wet, dry, arid, humid, or a little on the cold side. It's an especially tough and sturdy plant once established.

The petals of the Blue Ice Amsonia are so delicate that you would imagine them being harder to maintain, or easy to become overgrown because of the long stems. That's very untrue. These flowers are very easy to prune and have little upkeep.

I have had Blue Ice Amsonia planted in my garden for some while now, and it never fails to get many compliments. Everyone visitor to my garden just has to ask what it is. Not many people are familiar with it. I have had a hard time finding it in my local nurseries and gardening centers, and have since had to order it online for delivery. I find it well worth ordering.
