Daffodils Make the World a Brighter Place

Beautiful Daffodils

Beautiful Daffodils

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved daffodils. These perfect yellow blooms were one of the first flowers to peek out of the ground after a long and cold winter, their sturdy stems standing proud against a blanket of snow after a particularly hard season.

There is something about daffodils that makes you feel alive and full of energy. You know that when these bountiful bulbs begin to bloom, that spring is just around the corner. Daffodils are my favorite springtime flower, which is why I am always in search of new bulbs and varieties to add to my daffodil field.

In addition to their beauty, daffodils are easy to grow. They are virtually maintenance free. Even benign negligence will yield a field filled with yellow elegance. They will grow in sun, in shade, in fertile soil, and in places that nothing else wants to grow. Plus, they are affordable. You can buy high quality bulbs at various price points, but even the least expensive varieties will yield strong and healthy plants.

Another positive attribute of daffodils is that they are a strong flower and will continue to propagate, even without a lot of effort on the gardener's part. Many other types of bulbs may wither and die, but daffodils will flourish and prosper, and probably outlive most of us!

You can always be confident that flowers that bloom from bulbs will be steady, regular and dependable. However, every garden should have a large bed of daffodils to welcome in the spring and set the tone for the rest of the growing season. They may not last very long, but they are beautiful to look at for the few weeks they are at their peak.
