Tips for Taking Pictures of Your Flowers

Most hobbyists use a digital camera and printer dock to take and print photos of flowers. Aiming and shooting is easy enough, but these tips will help you to improve your photos…

  • Pay attention to the lighting.
  • Sunlight can glare your photos if in the wrong position, so it is best to make sure that the sun is behind you. However, taking a close up with the sun in the background can create some awesome effects.

  • Use the right mode.
  • Most digital cameras have settings such as macro mode (for close ups), landscape mode (great for taking pictures of a whole flower garden) and action mode (for taking photos of birds or butterflies).

  • Try different angles.
  • Photos of roses are awesome when you focus on the center of the flower. However, some flowers look great with the sky as a backdrop. Breathtaking flower photos come from experimentation.

  • Get the "fresh dew" effect
  • Spraying the flowers with water using a fine misting spray bottle will capture a dew-looking effect that will make the flower image more lovely in your photos.

  • Get good development.
  • The development of flower garden pictures plays an important part in the quality of your photos. I like to get mine developed online through Kodak Gallery .

I used to think that digital photos were cool because they are printable pictures , but if you choose to print them yourself, you have to use high-quality photo paper and an ink cartridge that is specially intended for printing photos.

I learned that the hard way. About a year after I printed pictures and found that the color faded tremendously – after I put them in a scrapbook. I still had the photos on disk, so I was able to reprint them. As far as the scrapbook goes, I was able to replace the cheap photos with pictures of higher quality.
