Substituting Plants in a Garden Plan

The disadvantage of using prepared plans is that sometimes, you can’t find the specific plant that the plan calls for or some of the plants and flowers are not recommended in your zone.

If a lot of the flowers and plants in the plan are not suitable to be planted where you live, it is best to choose another garden plan. If you just can’t find the plants or flowers, look for flower bulbs or garden seeds . If all else fails, you can substitute the flowers with flowers that are of similar height and require the same spacing and care without messing up the flower garden layout . Another option is to draw your own garden plan using the recommended shortcuts to planning.

If you have developed your own garden plan that you are game to share or after you get your garden going, we would love to see your results.
