I Could Not Live Without My Hydrangea Plants!

Beautiful Hydrangeas
Planting perennial flowers can guarantee that your garden will have ongoing bursts of color and fragrance around the same time year after year. With careful planning and a moderate amount of care and attention, perennial flowers will brighten your landscape and provide many months of visual excitement.
There are hundreds of varieties of perennials available in every conceivable color and size, ranging from short, close-to-the-ground blooms that work well at the front of your garden, to those that grow two feet or more, to tower over the rest of the plants and flowers.
Although I love so many of my perennial flowers, those that I feel I could not live without in my garden are my hydrangeas. These sturdy plants do well in sun or shade and have full, snowball-type blooms that have a long staying power. In my area, they begin blooming in late June and can continue with their blue, purple, pink and white flowers through August. One of the fascinating facts about hydrangeas is that they can change colors from year to year, so if you have dark blue blooms this year, you could possibly have pink blooms on the same plant next year. It's always a nice surprise!
Hydrangea blooms are very versatile. I frequently use them as floating centerpieces. Fill a clear glass bowl with water, cut the hydrangea bloom and let it float in the water. It can stay fresh and fragrant for a week to ten days, if you change the water regularly.
Hydrangeas add visual interest to a wooded lot and are great companion plants to large trees. They also fan fill in large areas of a landscaped yard. Keep them well hydrated, as the leaves will begin to droop when they need water. They are easy to maintain and will become an essential plant for your garden.
