Indoor Herb Gardens

I love to cook, and I also love being able to say that I've used my own ingredients in the meals that I've prepared. I've tried growing fruit plants or vegetables in the past, and I've had some success, but nothing's really come out as good as it does when I've bought it from a store. However, the herbs that I grow in my herb garden are amazing! I think everything that I cook using them is extra delicious.
Since I live in an area that has pretty long and harsh winters, I grow my herb garden indoors. I am sure that not every herb thrives when being grown inside, but I've had no trouble with the ones that I grow. I've been able to keep up my little indoor herb garden very easily.
The herbs that I currently grow in my herb garden are basil, chives, parsley, oregano, and thyme. I chose all of these herbs because I can get so much use out of using them while I cook. They all taste so much better than buying them prepackaged or even fresh at the grocery store. I have to say that I think the basil and the oregano are the most useful herbs that I've grown. I can find uses for them all the time. When friends and family come over to visit, I am always sending them home with bags of fresh herbs and they say that they love cooking with them too.
I haven't had to do anything special to keep my herbs growing well inside. I think that if you choose the right herbs, all you need is plenty of water, and plenty of sunlight. You just can't beat eating a meal made with herbs you've grown yourself. I'd recommend growing an indoor herb garden to anyone who loves to cook like I do.
