Lily of the Nile

by Petra
(Yuba City, California )

My favorite perennial flower is one that's called Lily of the Nile. It is a beautiful flower that is a lovely shade in between blue and purple. I like to say that it's periwinkle. I don't just like it for its color, though! Here are a few reasons why I love Lily of the Nile.

I have always liked all kinds of lilies. I think they have such an elegant and sophisticated look. I try and use plants like Lily of the Nile to create a sort of atmosphere in my garden that's perfect for summertime dinner parties. People always complement all of my flowers, but the Lily of the Nile is particularly popular.

Another reason that I like Lily of the Nile is that it looks nice a very long time. It feels like some perennials don't really make a comeback until summer and are gone by early fall, but that's not the case with Lily of the Nile. It is blooming and looking great most months out of the year, which makes me feel like the plants I buy are well worth the money spent on them.

Lily of the Nile is also the perfect sort of plant for my yard. I get a lot of sunshine, and it is happy to soak it all up. It attracts birds and butterflies to my yard frequently. It doesn't require much extra care. Just water, sunlight, and fertilizer keep it looking flawless. I'd definitely recommend Lily of the Nile to anyone else who has plenty of sunshine in their yard. I get so many compliments on it, and it seems like the sort of flower that everyone loves.
