Planting Roses
You are ready for planting roses after you have
selected your rose bushes
and prepared the flower garden with fertile and well-draining soil.
Here are six tips for planting bare-root roses...
Plant the rose bushes shortly after you receive them. If planting time is delayed, be sure to keep the roots moist.Place the bushes in a bucket of lukewarm for about a hour before you plant them. Space them appropriately to make sure that they have room to grow to maturity. Dig a hole in your
flower bed
that is appropriate for your growing zone. In warm climates the top of the roots need to be about two inches below the soil and colder climates they need to buried deeper, about four to six inches. Place the bush and support it if necessary, and then cover the roots and part of the branches with soil. Water the bush well and continue to keep the soil moist until the bush is established.

Roses are pretty easy to care for. To get the best results...- Prune them in early spring
- Water them generously about once a week, more often in hot, dry spells
- Fertilize them using organic fertilizer after their first bloom and then once a month for the next two months
- Prune off dead flowers in order to promote re-blooming
- If you live in a cold climate, you will need to winterize your rose bushes before winter hits
Rose gardening is phenomenal and really, it is easy. If you have grown roses that you are proud of,
