Pond Garden

My Water Garden
What do you do with a backyard made of clay? Of course, grass doesn't want to grow there. Also, I wanted to be ecologically minded, and, even if I could coax the grass to take root and flourish, that flourishing would require a steady supply of water.
I would much prefer the water to be contained, like a pond filled from my rain barrel than to shower reluctant seed in frustrated hope of a back lawn. The pond needed some flowering accessories. In the spirit of conservation, even some of the flowers were recycled. When I divided my irises in my garden in NY just before selling that house, I packed the extras in pots and brought them to my new NC home. They seem to like my new environs as much as I do.
