How to Create a Controlled Environment for Growing Tropical Flowers and Plants Indoors
Tropical flowers are so delightful. They seem like
exotic flowers
for those who don’t live in their native lands. The sizes, shapes, colors, and aromas are quite unique. Tropical or

bouquets can make you feel like you are on a perpetual vacation.
Good News…
You can actually grow tropical flowers in an
indoor garden
if you pay attention to the desired growing requirements… - Tropical plants and flowers love humidity
The level of humidity needs to be between 60 and 80 percent. You can manipulate the humidity levels by using humidity trays filled with water. - These types of plants and flowers do not like cold weather
They grow best in temperatures between 70 to 80 degrees. At night, it is acceptable to lower the temperature of the environment some, but not less than 50 degrees.
- Don’t “over sun” them
When thinking of the tropics, I think total sunlight. However, tropical plants and flowers do best indoors under bright filtered light. Using a grow light during the day is just great. - Don’t drown them
It is important to maintain moist soil; however, they will grow best in well-drained soil that isn’t soggy. If they are kept in a container which properly drains and you water the plants to keep the soil moist that should be just fine. - They do need fertilization
During the spring and summer, it is advisable to use water soluble fertilizer about every two weeks for the best results. During winter, you can decrease the time between feeding the plants to about once a month. These tips should help you to grow tropical plants and flowers inside. If you have done it and would like to
