Try Kiss Me Roses!

by Ellen
(Sterling Heights, MI)

I, along with many other people, absolutely adore roses. I had always wanted to include some roses in my garden, but I never thought that I was skilled enough to cultivate them. I thought trying to do it in the Michigan weather was even more of a problem. However, I managed to find the right roses for my garden and get them to grow beautifully. If I can do it, anyone can!

One day when I was looking at plants and flowers in the nursery section of a local store. I saw the most beautiful roses there. They smelled heavenly and were just the perfect shade of pink. An employee noticed me admiring them and asked if he could help.

I told the employee that I was just looking and that I wasn't a very good gardener. I felt absolutely sure that I couldn't handle roses. The employee informed me that this kind of rose was called "Kiss Me Rose", and it was one of the absolute easiest kinds of roses to grow. I wasn't quite convinced, but the roses were so beautiful I decided to plant some in my garden to see what I could do with them.

I was so scared to look up stuff about the pruning I'd have to do when I got home, but when I did I learned that I wouldn't have to do much of anything. It seemed too good to be true, but sure enough, my roses looked gorgeous all summer long without too much effort on my part. I am thrilled to have found a rose that my garden can handle.
